I’m sure you all have heard this question at some point and there is always that person that will say GOLD! Without even stopping to think that a pound is a pound regardless of what you are weighing.
With that being said many of you have also heard the following statement, “Muscle weighs more than fat.”. Well, I’m here to inform you all that this is…well, not true. One pound of fat and one pound of muscle weigh the same they are merely different in density. So for example a pound of muscle would be the size of a racket ball and a pound of fat would be the size of a softball…just for example.
This is why when people notice their clothes fitting differently, but the number on the scale hasn’t changed dramatically or at all it’s because they just traded in fat for muscle. You often see this with people who don’t have much in the way of fat to lose compared to someone who is overweight or obese.
Just remember to be patient in training, eat right, live right, and always bring intensity to the gym. Have a great day!
