Blas Carrasco - Head Coach and
Owner (Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Kids Martial Arts)
Coach Blas Carrasco is an
experienced martial artist and trainer.
He began his training under 6th degree San Soo Master Eric Mattingly
where he earned his black belt. Coach Mattingly
exposed Coach Blas to Muay Thai Kickboxing early in his training. Over the years with Eric, Blas continued to
train in a Mixed Fighting System where he also learned techniques in Sambo,
Wrestling, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Escrima and Kali. Muay Thai, however, has always been his base
for fighting.
He later came to know and train
briefly under Saekson Janjira, and in the spring of 2002 he traveled to Bangkok
and was taken in as a private student of 3 Time Lumpinee Champion Jaroenthong
Kiatbanchong. It was then that he saw Muay Thai at its finest and trained not
only to be a fighter, but just as importantly, a great coach.
Jaroenthong and Blas moved to Koh
Samui, Thailand after one month in Bangkok, and it is here where they opened
the International Muay Thai School of Koh Samui (literally from the bottom up).
They later took in students of all nationalities and abilities both pro,
amateur, and people traveling through to experience the wonderful art Muay
Thai.
Coach Blas is currently a 3 Stripe Blue
Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Black Belts Albert Hughes and Tony
Tipton. Blas is also mentoring under
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts Justin Morris and Wade Barden of the ISI BJJ
Team. Coach Blas also trained briefly
under Coach JD Shelley.
Bianca Carrasco: Assistant Muay Thai Coach and Owner
Bianca first started her martial arts training in Chinese Kenpo, from there she went on to study Shaolin Kung fu and Kendo. She started training in Muay Thai under Danny Torres in September of 2003.
Randy Thompson - Assistant Muay Thai Instructor
Randy began his training with Coach Blas 4 years ago and has quickly proven himself as a top coach in the Fort Worth area. Known for his fluid and powerful kicking style, Randy is a tremendous asset to the school and we look forward to him fighting again in 2010!
